If one were to name an artist whose songs defined Cantopop, Danny Chan would be one of them. Nicknamed as the Prince of Romance Songs, Danny Chan was well known for the beautiful ballads he composed. Ripple was one of them.
He was one of the greatest music artists during the 1980s, alongside with Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui and Alan Tam. At that time, all four of them were called the Three Kings and the Queen of Cantopop.
